Press Spin and the drum draws a number from 1 to 90, with no repeats, just like Neapolitan tombola at home. The board marks every number that comes out; below are a few numbers from the classic smorfia. The drum only reads the number out loud, leaving the phrase to whoever is calling. Free, in the browser, no sign-up.

How to play Neapolitan tombola

  1. Press Spin

Or the space bar on a computer. The number appears large next to the drum.

  2. Call the number, with or without the smorfia

Just read it, or add its smorfia phrase if the family knows it.

  3. Check ambo, terno and tombola

When someone shouts, compare their card against the marked numbers on the board.

  4. New game

“Start over” puts all 90 numbers back in the drum.

The smorfia: a meaning for every number

The Neapolitan smorfia links every tombola number to an image: 1 is Italy, 8 is Our Lady, 13 is Saint Anthony, 48 is the talking dead man, and 90 is fear itself. Every family and every town has its own variations.

This drum draws at random and never repeats a number in the same game, but it only reads the number: the phrase stays with whoever is calling, the way it does around the family table. The game stays in this browser until you press Start over.

From the Christmas table to the big party

For Christmas Eve or New Year’s dinner, this drum and printed cards are all you need. Find them at printable tombola cards, in series of 6 with all 90 numbers.

For a school or office event with several tables, a Tombingo event adds a screen for the room and cards that mark themselves on each phone. Tombingo events use 90-number cards and are free for up to 20 cards: see pricing.

Frequently asked questions

Does the drum repeat numbers?

No. Each number comes out once per game; “Start over” puts them all back.

Does it say the smorfia phrases too?

No, it only reads the number. The smorfia phrases are left to whoever is calling, if the family uses them.

Can I use it on a TV during Christmas dinner?

Yes: open this page on the computer or tablet connected to the TV and, for a big room, zoom in with your browser.

Do I lose the game if I close the page?

No, if you reopen it in the same browser: the numbers drawn stay saved there until you press Start over.

Can this tool be used for betting?

No. It is an entertainment tool for family games and group events: it does not handle bets or money.
